  • Isolates the member that you click or have preselected.
  • Two reasons to isolate a member are: 1) To create preset member views for inclusion on 2D details created using Detail Members . 2) To work on that member in isolation from the rest of the 3D model.
  • If, in isolation , you apply a view to one member, all members with that same piecemark are detailed with that view. However, modeling operations done in isolation apply to the one member only.

   Step-by-step instructions :

Isolate Member by Location brings the member you select into member isolation . The following instructions assume that you are in Modeling using a 3-button mouse. You can do either step 1c (preselection) or step 3 (in-tool selection) to perform this operation.

1 . Before using this tool:

1a : Confirm the member you want to be isolated has undergone Create Solids .

1b (tip) : You may want to set the selection filter to ' Member '.

Select Items bindings (step 1c)

1c (optional) : In Select Items mode with the selection filter set to ' Default ' or ' Members ' or etc., left-click ( Select ) the one (1) member that you want to isolate. When selected, the member will be displayed in the " Primary selection color ," which by default is green.

2 . Invoke Isolate Member by Location using any one (1) of the following methods:

Methods 1, 2 & 3 : An Isolate Member by Location icon can be added to your toolbar (classic) or ribbon (lightning). The icon, keyboard shortcut or context menu command can be found in the group named ' Model -- Member '.
